The UK has recorded a trade surplus of £16.4 billion in 2018 and has recorded a trade surplus since 1999.
2018:
6% of UK exports -£38.3 billion in goods and services (a record high)
5th largest export market.
3.3% of UK imports -£21.9 billion (Record High)
9th largest source of Imports.
Ireland is only one of four EU countries where the UK recorded a trade surplus in 2018. The other three were Luxemburg, Malta and Sweden.
